Scrub Typhus IgG Antibody (ELISA)
A Scrub Typhus IgG Antibody (ELISA) test detects Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies against Orientia tsutsugamushi in a patient's blood, indicating a past exposure or infection. The Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay involves using Orientia tsutsugamushi antigens to coat microwells, then adding patient serum and enzyme-labeled antibodies to measure the presence of specific IgG antibodies. A positive result, signaled by a specific optical density (OD) value, confirms exposure to the bacteria.
