von Willebrand Factor, Activity Assay (RCF) (vW-VonWillebrand)
A von Willebrand Factor (VWF) Activity Assay, also known as the Ristocetin Cofactor (VWF:RCo) assay, is a blood test that measures how well the VWF protein is working in a patient's blood, rather than just how much is present. It is used to help diagnose von Willebrand Disease (VWD) by assessing the VWF's ability to bind to platelets, which is a key step in the clotting process. Newer automated and recombinant assays like the VWF:Ac assay are also available, offering improved performance and precision.
