Anti Phospholipid Antibody IgM
An anti phospholipid antibody (APA) IgM test measures a specific type of antibody called immunoglobulin M (IgM) that can attack and bind to phospholipids, which are crucial components of cell membranes and blood clotting factors. High levels of these antibodies indicate a condition called Antiphospholipid Syndrome (APS), an autoimmune disorder that increases the risk of blood clots, strokes, and pregnancy complications like miscarriages. The test is performed on a blood sample and is a key diagnostic tool for APS.
