IRON STUDIES / IRON PROFILE

An iron profile, or iron studies test, is a blood test that evaluates your body's iron levels to diagnose and monitor iron deficiencies or overload, such as iron deficiency anemia or hemochromatosis. It includes tests for serum iron, Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC), Unsaturated Iron Binding Capacity (UIBC), and Transferrin Saturation. To prepare, you may need to fast overnight, and avoiding iron supplements for at least 24 hours beforehand is usually recommended.
