Anti Phospholipid Antibody IgG
Anti-phospholipid antibody (APA) IgG refers to a type of autoantibody, specifically an immunoglobulin G (IgG) class antibody, that targets phospholipids, which are components of cell membranes and are involved in blood clotting. Elevated levels of these IgG antibodies, particularly anticardiolipin antibodies (aCL) and anti-β2-glycoprotein I (anti-β2GPI) antibodies, are associated with an increased risk of blood clots (thrombosis) and pregnancy complications, a condition known as antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). A diagnosis of APS requires persistent laboratory abnormalities, such as elevated IgG APA levels, alongside clinical manifestations of clotting or pregnancy loss.
