Protein Serum

A protein serum overview refers to tests like the Total Serum Protein test and Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPEP), which measure and analyze blood proteins to help diagnose various conditions. The total serum protein test measures total protein, albumin, and globulin levels to detect issues like liver disease, kidney disease, and nutritional deficiencies. SPEP further separates globulins into subgroups (alpha, beta, and gamma) to identify specific abnormalities, such as monoclonal gammopathies (seen in blood cancers like multiple myeloma), chronic inflammation, and other disorders.
