Protein Urine Spot
A protein urine spot test, or spot urine protein to creatinine ratio (P/C ratio), is a quick, simple test that measures the amount of protein in a single urine sample to help detect proteinuria, a sign of potential kidney damage. Proteinuria can indicate serious conditions like kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or preeclampsia, but it can also be caused by temporary factors like dehydration or intense exercise. A high P/C ratio suggests the kidneys are not filtering protein properly, requiring further investigation by a healthcare provider.
