Urea, Serum

Urea (carbamide) is an organic chemical compound used as a major nitrogen-based fertilizer, in medical treatments for skin conditions and to reduce swelling, and as a component in vehicle exhaust systems to reduce pollution. It's also a natural waste product in the body, filtered by the kidneys and excreted in urine, with high levels in the blood (measured by a BUN test) potentially indicating kidney problems.
